ANC Gauteng Task Team Unveils Plan to Address Service Delivery Challenges

The ANC’s Gauteng Provincial Task Team has revealed its strategy to tackle key governance and service delivery issues following a decline in voter confidence. The briefing, held at Saxonworld in Johannesburg, comes after the party’s poor performance in last year’s elections, which led the ANC’s National Executive Committee to disband the provincial leadership and appoint a new task team.

Premier Panyaza Lesufi emphasized the need to address infrastructure decay, water and power shortages, and crime—some of the 12 critical challenges identified. The task team, which includes former executives and ANC veterans, aims to restore public trust ahead of the next elections in 2026 or 2027.

It was noted that the ANC has consulted internal and independent research to refine its approach. Further details on the implementation plan are expected soon.
