A 27-year-old suspect was arrested following a shooting incident during a police operation at Seven Passage, next to Fourways, in the Moletlane policing area on Friday, 20 March 2026.
Members of the Moletlane Detectives, Polokwane Task Team, and other operational units were conducting an operation to trace wanted suspects when they approached the individual. Upon seeing the police, the suspect fled on foot, and officers gave chase.
During the pursuit, the suspect allegedly drew a firearm and pointed it at one of the officers. Police responded by discharging warning shots, after which the suspect was shot.
The injured suspect sustained a gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital for treatment under police guard.
A firearm containing two rounds of ammunition, with no magazine, was recovered at the scene.
Authorities have linked the suspect to several cases, including theft from a motor vehicle.
