Counterfeit Currency Bust in Rugby, Milnerton

Police arrested a 33-year-old man on Friday, 20 March 2026, following the discovery of a significant quantity of counterfeit money at a property in Madeira Street, Rugby.

According to Milnerton police, officers acted on a tip-off regarding suspected counterfeit currency operations at the address. Upon searching the premises, authorities located a trunk containing stacks of counterfeit R100 and R200 banknotes, as well as an undisclosed amount in U.S. dollars.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene. He is scheduled to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court once formal charges have been laid.
