Dagga Plants Seized, Suspect Arrested

A collaborative effort between local police and the community resulted in the confiscation of 291 dagga plants and the arrest of a suspect on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

Members of the Nababeep SAPS, in conjunction with Springbok detectives, were conducting tracing operations in the area when they acted on intelligence received regarding the alleged cultivation of dagga. The information was operationalized, leading officers to a identified premises in Nababeep.

Upon searching the property, authorities discovered and confiscated hundreds of plants, confirmed to be dagga.

A 40-year-old male was subsequently arrested in connection with the cultivation of the plants. He is expected to appear in the local magistrate’s court soon on charges related to the Contravention of the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act.
