Police in Lebowakgomo, Capricorn District, have arrested a male suspect for the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl in Thokgoaneng village.
According to police reports, the incident came to light in the early hours of Tuesday, 02 March 2026, at approximately 03:00. The victim’s mother reportedly discovered her boyfriend kneeling next to the bed where her daughter was sleeping, with his hands inside the blankets touching the child.
Following the discovery, the victim disclosed that the suspect had allegedly been entering her bedroom at night on several previous occasions, using the pretext of charging his cellphone. The victim reported that during these instances, the suspect would touch her and forcibly insert a finger into her private parts. It is further alleged that he strongly threatened the victim, warning her not to notify anyone or else he would hurt her.
The mother immediately notified the police, and a rape case was opened for further investigation.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday, 05 March 2026. He is scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 09 March 2026.
