Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the robbery of an e-hailing driver, an incident that was captured on video and widely circulated on social media.
According to a statement by the South African Police Service (SAPS), the robbery took place on 28 February 2026. The victim officially opened a case at the Sophiatown police station on 02 March 2026.
Following the report, the suspects were identified. Members of the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit traced and apprehended four individuals on 03 March 2026 in connection with the robbery.
SAPS management has expressed its gratitude to the public for their assistance, noting that community support was instrumental in ensuring the suspects were traced and arrested.
The four suspects are expected to appear before the local magistrate’s court shortly.
